On July 18th, Anderson County Sheriff, Russell Barker, was recognized at the County Commission meeting by the Office of the United States Secretary of Defense’s Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) division. Sheriff Barker was awarded the Patriot Award for being a Patriotic Employer and supporter of employee participation in America’s National Guard and Reserve Force. ESGR has a unit in Knoxville that supports 19 counties, including Anderson. “This is an honor that I will cherish for the rest of my life. The men and women of our armed forces display service and sacrifice that is second to none. As Sheriff, they will always have my full support” Barker stated.
In addition, Sheriff Barker and HR Director, Kim Jeffers-Whitaker, we’re recognized by County Commission resolution for their unwavering support for Anderson County employee’s who are serving in the reserve or guard.
