On Friday, the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. Team joined with the LaFollette Police Department for a search warrant at 102 South 27th Street in LaFollette. The home belonged to Derick Byrge – a local drug dealer with a long criminal history.
The S.W.A.T. Team entered the residence and found Byrge inside a bedroom, where they were able to safely put him into custody. Once inside, Officers discovered several scales, needles, and baggies commonly used to package narcotics. Officers then found methamphetamine inside a padlocked closet at the back of the bedroom, along with over $2,000 in cash. The stack of cash included several pieces of currency that had been marked by the Sheriff’s Office through undercover drug purchases.
Byrge was transported to the Campbell County Jail, and charged with possession of schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
