On Monday, Detective Sergeant Gary Jeffers with the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office led a large search of a Jellico residence. The home, just hundreds of feet away from Jellico Elementary School on Poplar Avenue, belongs to Dustin Omar Louden and Sarah Rashay Sutton.
Inside the home, officers were able to recover more than $36,000 in stolen property. They found a large amount of various drugs, including: heroin, meth, methadone, morphine, suboxone, clonazepam, alprazolam, gabapentin, and marijuana. Several handguns and a rifle were also recovered, along with multiple digital scales, glass pipes, and hypodermic syringes.
Most importantly, a young child was also safely removed from the home. The child had easy access to the drugs, guns, and other dangerous items.
“We are working hard to get drugs off of our streets and will fight to get every stolen item back to its owners,” said Sheriff Robbie Goins. “It’s heartbreaking when we find a young kid subjected to this type of life. We will be working hard to guarantee that the child is never forced to live in a drug home again.”
Both Louden and Sutton were each charged with more than a dozen crimes, including child abuse and possession of schedule I, II, III, IV, V, and VI controlled substances.
Further charges are pending in connection with this case.
