Carson-Newman (10-0) breaks a program record for the most wins in a single month after a pair of victories against Tennessee Tech (1-1) and Berry College (4-1) on Friday, Feb. 24th.

C-N 4, Tennessee Tech 1

The Eagles began the day with a matchup against Tennessee Tech. The Golden Eagles played in their second match in program history after winning their first match 4-1 against Spartanburg Methodist earlier in the day. Carson-Newman won the match 4-1, with wins coming from the one, two, four, five, and an exhibition match victory.

Sierra Still and Truth Hafey remained in the one spot for the ninth game in a row. They took on Skylar Boom and Aleeya Jones. The Eagles won in sets of 21-18 and 21-13. Still moves to 34 career wins, and Hafey, the Georgia State transfer, moves to eight wins in her first season as an Eagle.

Abbey Hildenbrand and Ava Fountain continued their dominance in the two spot for the Eagles when they lined up against Madolyn Isringhausen and Jazmine Yamilkoski. The Eagles won in sets of 21-14 and 21-17.

Mia Toribio paired up with Taylor Keeran in the three spot in Toribio's first action of the season. Morgan Gish and Jordan Karlen spoiled her season debut with sets of 21-14 and 21-17.

Julia Wheeler and McKenna Hall saw Brooke Amann and McKenna Young in the four spot. Carson-Newman's duo dropped the first set 21-15 but went on to roll over Tennesse Tech 21-14 in the second set. The Eagles finished off Amann and Young 15-11 in the tiebreaker.

Jenny Ille saw her first action of the season when she paired up with Piper Halcrow in the five spot. The duo dominated the first set against Bella Powell and Olivia Taylor, winning 21-14. The Eagles had to battle back in the second set to win 22-20.

Calla Shotwell and Kenzie Palmer lined up against Katie Diramondo and Emma Pabon in an exhibition match. Shotwell and Palmer won in sets of 21-19 and 21-15.

C-N 4, Berry 1

Carson-Newman went on to face the hosting school, Berry College, in the day's second match. The Knights' beach volleyball program is in its second season. The Knights had a perfect 4-0 record before their contest with the Eagles.

Still and Hafey lost their second matchup of the season when they saw Peyton Breissinger and Bella Boston in the one spot. The Eagles lost in sets of 21-15 and 21-13, marking the largest margin of defeat for the Eagles this season.

Toribio won her first match of the season when her and Keeran took down Hannah Hulsman and Olivia Mallow in sets of 21-16 and 21-19. Toribio moved up to 30 career wins.

Wheeler and Hall took on Molly Bergin and Kate Whittle in the four spot. The Eagles won the first set 21-15 and the second set 21-9. The second set victory was the largest margin of victory of the day.

Halcrow and Ille took on Jen Aten and Lily Teagle in the five spot. The Eagles won the first set 21-13 but dropped the second set 21-19. Carson-Newman's duo squeezed out a 15-13 win to end the day.

Carson-Newman's win against Berry broke the program record for the most wins in a month with 10. The previous record was set last year in March. Carson-Newman's roster features seven players that have yet to drop a matchup. Hall, Wheeler, Hildenbrand, and Fountain each have 10 wins this season. Halcrow has racked up eight dubs. Ashlyn Phair has six victories, and Ille is 2-0 after the day.

The Eagles have outscored their opponents 46-4 so far this season. Carson-Newman could finish February undefeated. It would mark the second time in program history that the Eagles have been undefeated in a month, with the first being when the team went 3-0 in February of 2020.
