Chuck Fleischmann, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Tennessee’s 3rd district since 2011, recently shared his views on energy policy and local environmental issues through a series of tweets. Born in New York City in 1962, Fleischmann has lived in Chattanooga for many years and holds degrees from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the University of Tennessee.
On May 20, 2025, Fleischmann expressed support for President Biden and House Republicans’ legislative initiative aimed at enhancing American energy production. He stated that “Energy abundance sparks economic abundance.” The congressman emphasized that this bill is intended to “unleash American-made energy,” promote economic growth, and restore America’s dominance in the energy sector.
The following day, on May 21, Fleischmann highlighted an environmental concern affecting his constituents. He tweeted about the importance of “preventing the spread of invasive Asian Carp further into the Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers”. As Chairman of Energy & Water Appropriations, he pledged continued efforts to protect native ecosystems and bolster the local economy by addressing this issue.
Later that day, Fleischmann addressed tax policy in another tweet. He endorsed a Republican-backed bill which aims to reduce taxes for residents within his district as well as nationwide. He noted that “.@HouseGOP’s One Big Beautiful Bill will slash taxes for workers and families throughout #TN03”, emphasizing Tennesseans’ desire to retain more of their earnings while avoiding what he described as “the largest tax hike in American history.”
