U.S. Congressman Chuck Fleischmann, who represents Tennessee’s 3rd district, used his social media platform to criticize Democrats over the ongoing government shutdown and highlight the impact on federal workers and essential programs.
On November 5, 2025, Fleischmann posted: “Democrats must end their insanity and end their government shutdown immediately! Americans are suffering because of Democrat politicians’ political games. It is sad and shameful that Democrats continue to play games with the lives of hardworking Americans.”
The following day, he acknowledged the efforts of Department of Energy employees during the shutdown: “Throughout this Democrat Government Shutdown, federal workers at the Department of Energy have been working tirelessly without pay. I want to thank @SecretaryWright for his outstanding leadership and all the DOE employees who are working hard to make America energy dominant.” This message was posted on November 6, 2025.
Later that same day, Fleischmann continued his criticism by focusing on Senate Democrats and specific legislative measures: “The House did its job. The truth is, this Democrat Government Shutdown is driven by Chuck Schumer, and it is ridiculous and wrong. Essential programs like SNAP would be immediately funded if Senate Democrats vote for the CLEAN CR. Democrats must do their job NOW!”
Fleischmann has represented Tennessee’s 3rd District in Congress since 2011 after succeeding Zach Wamp. He was born in New York City in 1962 and currently resides in Chattanooga. Fleischmann holds a BA from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (1983) and a JD from the University of Tennessee (1986).
