U.S. Congressman Chuck Fleischmann, who represents Tennessee’s 3rd district, used his social media account on November 4, 2025, to criticize Democrats for the ongoing government shutdown and its impact on federal workers and air travel.
In a post made at 15:14 UTC, Fleischmann stated, “There’s no reason for Americans to continue suffering because of Democrats’ Government Shutdown. Today, there will be the 14th vote to reopen our government. Democrats must stop blocking the reopening of our government and allow air traffic controllers & TSA agents to be paid.”
An hour later, at 16:13 UTC, he continued his criticism by addressing the consequences faced by travelers: “Every American experiencing flight delays, cancellations, and long TSA lines can thank Democrats for causing havoc at airports. It only takes 5 Senate Democrats to vote to reopen the government and pay our air traffic controllers and TSA agents. End the Democrat Shutdown now.”
In a subsequent post at 16:29 UTC, Fleischmann expressed support for federal employees working without pay during the shutdown: “Thank you to all workers who continue to do their jobs while Democrats freeze their paychecks and keep our government closed. We stand with our airport police, air traffic controllers, TSA agents, NNSA employees, and all federal workers who serve the American People.”
Fleischmann has represented Tennessee’s 3rd District in Congress since 2011 after succeeding Zach Wamp. He was born in New York City in 1962 and currently resides in Chattanooga. Fleischmann holds a BA from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (1983) and a JD from the University of Tennessee (1986).
